The Easy Way To Make

Scented Pillar Candles

These illustrated and easy to follow directions should help you to make a long burning, scented pillar candle.

Please be careful melting and pouring wax.  Never melt wax with direct heat; use a

double boiler or a can in a sauce pan with water.  As shown in these instructions.

Materials Needed:

One Mold—3" Wide x 6 1/2" Tall #7360 Color Cube
A Spool of Wick—#CW7 Wax—#WB4 (#5800)
1 - 3½ oz. Bottle of Fragrance White Clay (small cube of Sculpey)

Step 1:   Measure 7 cups of wax into your melting container (a coffee can or top pan of  a double boiler). Melt on medium heat.  (See Diagram 1)

While wax is melting, prepare your mold for the wax by pushing the wick through the hole and pulling through leaving a couple inches past the top of the mold.  Please Note:  This will also be the top of your candle.  Plug hole around the wick with a small piece of clay then a piece of tape.  (See Diagram 2)

On the bottom of the mold, place a piece of tape across the center of the mold then hold the wick on the center of the tape and place another piece of tape to hold the wick in place.  Your mold is ready for the melted wax.  (See Diagram 3)

Step 2:   After your wax is completely melted, add a small piece of the color cube and stir until thoroughly mixed.  Please Note:  The color cube included in this kit will color approximately 15 candles.  Please use only a small amount as shown in the diagram.  (See Diagram 4)    Add about ½ the bottle of fragrance oil included with the kit (1¾ fl. ounces).  Stir until completely mixed.

Step 3.  Carefully pour into the mold.  Leave a small amount of wax (about 4 ounces, ½ cup) in the melting container. You will use this wax to fill the vent hole. (See Diagram 5)    Let cool at room temperature. Do not place in refrigerator or freezer.

Step 4:  After candle cools for about 2 hours, open a small vent hole in the bottom of the candle.  (See Diagram 6)  Vent down to melted wax.  Keep this vent open for about 4 hours, checking occasionally.

Re-melt saved wax and carefully pour down the vent hole. Do not fill past the bottom of the candle; fill just the hole.  (See Diagram 7)

Step 5:  After candle completely cools, about 8 hours, remove tape.  Trim wick on bottom of mold and carefully pull the candle out of the mold.

Step 6:  Trim wick to ¼”.  Burn for only 2 hours at a time. Always trim wick to ¼” before lighting.
