Creating Pins: To add beads to the safety pins, hold one opened pin with the point facing away and up. Add beads as shown in the table at the bottom. Begin putting beads on the pin, starting with the beads listed on the bottom and working your way to the head of the pin. PLEASE NOTE: Beads should appear in the same order as shown below. (Make sure to create the number of pins needed of each type, & keep pins separate. 100 pins total.)

Step 1. Cut your wire into 6—12”, and 2 -14” pieces.

Row 1: Starting at the bottom of Uncle Sam. Using 12” of wire, *thread wire through 1—10mm Faceted Bead (Dark Blue), then thread wire through bottom loop of 1- “A” Pin. Repeat from * until 6—10mm Faceted Beads (Dark Blue), and 5- “A” Pins have been used. Then thread wire through bottom loop of 1- “B” Pin, add

1—10mm Faceted Bead (Christmas Red). Repeat until 11- “B” Pins and 10—10mm Faceted Beads (Christmas Red) have been used. Pull tight. Twist, and cut off excess wire.

Row 2: Using 14” of wire, thread wire through the head of the first “A” Pin from the previous row, *add 1—8mm Faceted Bead (Crystal). Then thread wire through the bottom loop of 1- “C” Pin, add 1—8mm Faceted Bead (Crystal). Then thread wire through the head of the next “A” Pin from the previous row. Repeat from * until 4- “C” Pins, and 8—8mm Faceted Beads (Crystal) have been used. **Then thread wire through 1—8mm Faceted Bead (Christmas Red), then thread wire through the bottom loop of 1—loose “B” Pin, add 1—8mm Faceted Bead (Christmas Red), then thread wire through the head of 1- “B” Pin from the previous row. Repeat from **until 12- “B” Pins, and 24—8mm Faceted Beads (Christmas Red) have been used. Pull tights. Twist, and cut off excess wire.

Row 3: Using 14” of wire, thread wire through the head of the last “B” Pin added from the previous row. Add 1—Rondell (Champagne). Then thread wire through the bottom loop of 1- “H” Pin, add 1—Rondell (Champagne). Then thread wire through the head of 1- “C” Pin from the previous row, add 1—Rondell (Champagne). Then thread wire through the bottom loop of 1- “I” Pin, add 1—Rondell (Champagne). Then thread wire through the head of the next “C” Pin from the previous row, add 1—Rondell (Champagne). Then thread wire through the bottom loop of 1- “J” Pin, add 1—Rondell (Champagne). Then thread wire through the head of the next “C” Pin from the previous row, add 1—Rondell (Champagne). Then thread wire through the bottom loop of 1- “I” Pin, add 1—Rondell (Champagne). Then thread wire through the head of the next “C” Pin, (this will be the last set of Crystal Beads), add 1—Rondell (Champagne). Then thread wire through the bottom loop of 1- “H” Pin, add 1—Rondell (Champagne). *Then thread wire through the head of the next pin from the previous row (this will be a “B” Pin with Red Beads), add 1—Rondell (Champagne). Then thread wire through the bottom loop of 1- “G” Pin, add 1—Rondell (Champagne). Repeat from *until 11 “G” Pins and 22—Rondells (Champagne) have been used. Pull tight. Twist, and cut off excess wire.

Row 4: Using 12” of wire, thread wire through the head of 1- “H” Pin from the previous row, (this pin will be the first bead of the face from the pin you twisted together in Row 3), add 1—6mm Faceted Bead (Champagne). Then thread wire through the bottom loop of 1- “K” Pin, add 1—6mm Faceted Bead (Champagne). Then thread wire through the head of 1- “I” Pin from the previous row, add 1—6mm Faceted Bead (Champagne). Then thread wire through the bottom loop of 1—Loose “G” Pin, add 1—6mm Faceted Bead (Champagne). Then thread wire through the head of 1- “J” Pin from the previous row, add 1—6mm Faceted Bead (Champagne). Then thread wire through the bottom loop of 1– Loose “G” Pin, add 1—6mm Faceted Bead (Champagne). Then thread wire through the head of 1- “I” Pin from the previous row, add 1—6mm Faceted Bead (Champagne).  Then thread wire through the bottom loop of 1- “K” Pin, add 1—6mm Faceted Bead (Champagne). Then thread wire through the head of 1- “H” Pin from the previous row, (this will be the last pin in the smile), add 1—6mm Faceted Bead (Champagne). *Then thread wire through the bottom loop of 1– Loose “G” Pin, add 1—6mm Faceted Bead (Champagne). Then thread wire through the head of 1- "G" Pin from the previous row, add 1 - 6mm Faceted Bead (Champagne.)  Repeat from *until 12- “G” pins have been added. Pull tight. Twist, and cut off excess wire.

Row 5: Using 12” of wire, thread wire through the head of 1- “G” Pin, add 1—6mm Faceted Bead (Champagne). *Then thread wire through the head of the next pin, add 1—6mm Faceted Bead (Champagne). Repeat from *until 16—6mm Faceted Beads have been used. Pull tight. Twist, and cut off excess wire.

Making the Hat:

Row 1: Starting from the top of the hat. Using 12” of wire, thread wire through the bottom loop of 1- “D” Pin, add 1—6mm Faceted Bead (Dark Blue). Then thread wire through the bottom loop of 1- “E” Pin, add 1—6mm Faceted Bead (Dark Blue). Then thread wire through the bottom loop of 1- “F” Pin, add 1—6mm Faceted Bead (Dark Blue). Repeat from *until 6- “D” Pins, “E” Pins, “F” Pins, and 18—6mm Faceted Beads

(Dark Blue) have been used. Pull tight. Twist, and cut off excess wire.

Row 2: Using 12” of wire, *thread wire through the head of 1- “D” Pin, (Red Beads), add 1—Rondell (Dark Blue). Then thread wire through the bottom loop of 1- “L” Pin (Red Beads). Then thread wire through the head of next pin from previous row, (“E” Pin, Crystal Beads), add 1—Rondell (Dark Blue). Then thread wire through the bottom loop of 1- “M” Pin, (Crystal Beads). Then thread wire through the head of the next pin from the previous row, (“F” Pin, Dark Blue Beads), add 1—Rondell (Dark Blue). Then thread wire through the bottom loop of 1- “N” Pin, (Dark Blue). Repeat from * until 6- “L” Pins, “M” Pins, “N” Pins, and 18—Rondells (Dark Blue) have been used. Don’t pull to tight. This is the brim of the hat. This needs to lay flat.

Row 3: Using 12” of wire, thread wire through the head of a “L” Pin from the previous row, (Red Beads), add 2—6mm Faceted Beads (Dark Blue). Repeat from * until all 36—6mm Faceted Beads (Dark Blue) have been used. Pull tight. Twist, and cut off excess wire. Now you can tighten Row 2. Twist and cut off excess wire.

Step 2: Glue on Hair, Beard, Glasses, and Nose (12mm Faceted Bead Christmas Red).

Step 3: Glue on Beaded Hat.

Step 4: Add Lights.

Step 5: Glue 34—10mm Star Beads (Opaque White) on to Red Jacket.
